Alan Hooker
Right then. Downsizing for the next build. Here's the obligatory box and contents shots. Not done one of these kits before, but heard good things, and the moulding looks superb. Of course, I've just gotta do that tiger meet bird! ancient mariner
Looks a good kit. Is it a Revell original or a repop of another companies?? The decals look pretty impressive.

I think it's Revell's own mould. The parts breakdown is very similar to their 1/32nd kits, and it's certainly not the Hasegawa tooling.
Alan Hooker
Early days. Cockpit is nicely detailed for the scale. This is gonna be a pretty rapid build, methinks! Edited July 23, 2011 by Alan Hooker
Alan Hooker
What a cracking little kit this is turning out to be. Main components go together beautifully. No need for filler.............yet! Edited July 24, 2011 by Alan Hooker
Alan Hooker
Main paintjob finished, using Revell Aquacolor paints and good quality flat brushes. The rear metalic area looks rough, but the decals on this kit negate the need for masking. Possibly the simplest scheme I've ever had to do! bexwh773
Possibly the simplest scheme I've ever had to do! Ow do Minty, great work so far, and yes, its a great little kit........ Did this one when I restarted and buggered it up (youve seen the pics!!!) but watch the decals, theyre a right pig. I think Ive still got a few left over decals from this one (if not, Ive got another in the stash), if ya get stuck, drop me a text / email etc. Bexy

Alan Hooker
Well now. Having been prewarned by Bexy about the decals, I used copious amounts of microset & sol and much patience to try to line them up properly. By the time I finished with the main tiger markings, all seemed well. This morning, however, I was greeted by a couple of nasty little cracks. Now, there are a couple of triangles of spare yellow on the sheet, so tried a wee bit to cover a crack, and as suspected would happen, made it look even worse!! Also, they didn't settle into the panel lines very well at all! So, I'll have to put up with it as it is and treat it as a 6 footer! Ho hum. I'll get this finished pronto and do a Hase 48th bird next to ease my modelling pain!!
bexwh773
My stashed one wont be the Tiger Bird Minty, so if you want them, all the Tiggy decals are yours. it went up, I didnt expect this to go pearshaped so quickly Bexy
Ghostbase
Very frustrating for the decals to go wrong at such a late stage of the build, she was looking good too. Looking forward to the Hase 48th bird Michael
Jabba
Well done with the decals, at least they did not crinkle up as happened to me one time and I had to cut along these crinkles to put some more Mirco Sol into them to get them to settle better. It does look very effective and a lot less to paint.
Alan Hooker
Finally mustered up enough enthusiasm to finish her after those bleeding decals. Found Humbrol 24 was a close match to the stripes, so did a little touching up. Kind of rushed her in the end though, hence I couldn't be bothered to add the yellow detailing to the canopy frames. Oh well. Think I'll upscale to 48th again for the next one. Either a Hase FGR.1 or Italeri F-4J(UK).
Jabba
Still looks very good after the trouble that you had. More Tiger stripes on the next one.
