Alan Hooker
Managed to cobble together 7 Spooks over the last month or so. Ebay tiss a wonderful thing! First off the blocks will be the Revell RF-4E. Change of plan for 1st build. The Sea Vixen I'm working on is taking up a lot of desk space. So 1st up for me will now be this Fujimi F-4J which will be completed as a VMFA-232 bird. As a bonus, there's a complete set of F-4C markings I can use at a future point on my Esci kit. Let the fun begin!! Edited June 13, 2011 by Alan Hooker

Enzo the Magnificent
When the Italeri F-4G first came out in the very late 70s I was over the moon with it. I built one as an F-4F. And then the Esci kits came out in 1983 and they were even better. I built a couple of those, one as an F-4D in Michigan ANG colours and another as a Jolly Rogers F-4J. Seeing those boxes again has brought back a lot of memories.

Alan Hooker
Early days on the Fujimi kit. Cockpit is basic, to say the least, but I've never been one for aftermarket or scratchbuilding, so it'll do! With the canopy closed, it'll be good enough for my taste! Alan Hooker
Good job I test fit everything! That's a nasty little gap. Bit of scrap plastic cemented in place. Once it's set I'll smooth it down! Edited May 30, 2011 by Alan Hooker

Alan Hooker
Filling and sanding complete now. Not perfect by a long way, but as good as I'm gonna get it! Next job is to start on the paintjob. Edited June 3, 2011 by Alan Hooker
Alan Hooker
Painting underway. Underside airbrushed, the rest will be hand painted. White is the only colour I ever airbrush. I really dont enjoy the process, but I've yet to successfully get a good white finish by hand, so needs must, as they say!
zero
Looking good Alan, However I suggest you find a cheaper model shop, £219.60 for an old pot of glue is very excessive. LOL looking good so far keep it up. Dave Edited June 6, 2011 by zero

Alan Hooker
AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!! Decals are curling up big time. Microset and sol aint sorting these sods! This one will have to be put aside till I sort out a decent aftermarket sheet. Meanwhile, I'll sort out another Spook to start on.
Alan Hooker
So, the Fujimi bird has stalled pending new decals, so meanwhile I'll make a start on the Revell F-4D. The obligatory contents shot. I'm sure your all well aware of what you get in this one. Build will be strictly OOB. Alan Hooker
That's the cockpit pretty much done. Nothing added. Fine detail has never been my strong point, so good job the detailing moulded on this old kit is actually quite good!! Ghostbase
Snap! I put my F-4C together a couple of days ago and have an identical result, this is the achilles heel of this kit. Those raised detail panels on the air intakes are going to be very difficult to avoid when sanding, so good luck! Michael She's a filler queen!! Well now, this'll take some work!! kspriss
ahhhh you will be fine...a little masking tape over the panels and carefully applied filler and you will be fine mate steve
Alan Hooker
Well, that's those nasty gaps gone. Not the neatest filling and sanding you'll see, but it'll have to do! Edited June 21, 2011 by Alan Hooker
