Finally completed my conversion of Academy's Mk.XIVc in to a PR.XIX

It's been quite an involved conversion, mostly due to the need to reshape the fuselage into a better profile as the Academy kit is a bit too deep and thus spoiling the elegant look of the late Griffon powered Spitfire. The remainder of the conversion was mostly down to the addition of new scoops and bulges on the fuselage, new windscreen and rear canopy and modifications to the cockpit.

The paint is Xtracolor PRU Blue enamel with Humbrol enamels for other detail painting.

Decals are all from the spares box, plus some hand cut letters and modified stencils.

The work in progress can be found here.

Hope you like it.

That is bloody well superb Karl.

I've read your construction thread through and think you've done an excellent

but simple set of modifications.

They're worthwhile mods for an Academy XIV,nevermind a conversion.

I reckon my cousin will spit bullets when he see's this.

He's wanted a 1/48th PR.XIX for a long time and recently shelled out

for the Heritage resin job.

Top job.

Wow, stunning build, I don't do 48th but that is a seriously nice model, great finish. I'm impressed, the more so after reading your build thread, that has to be one of the best, clearest, & easiset to follow I've ever seen. Great.
