RobMac Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) Ok, I'm sacrificing working on the Stuka this weekend to take part in this 24 hour Blitz, with this little cookie:- Premiere Models DH Sea Venom. I've never really looked in the box of this kit till now and it is one nice model. Check these out for example..... Not only that, but it comes with a neat cutaway drawing of the Venom and a poster with over twenty detailed shots of the aircraft. I'm actually looking forward to building this little cherrub. All I need now is my microscope and tweezers................ Thank the Lords of Colbolt for 1/32nd and 1/24th scale. Tiny kits should be Edited September 11, 2010 by RobMac
RobMac Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 And so it begins. You do realise I have just finished a night shift so this is going to be hard work! Anyway, the Blackberry will be in every picture uploaded. Start time 7am
RobMac Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 58 minutes into the build. Seats and panel done. after seeing the pictures though, need to touch up places.
Muller Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 just finished a night shift myself, don't know how you're going to stay up working on this, I'm off to bed! Good luck with it though.
RobMac Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) 2 hours 28 minutes in. 9.28am in the big brother hoose. This is not the best of kits, cause nothing fits!! Cut, chop, file, sand! Anyway, seats and panel installed and nose cone added. I had a vac formed canopy included in the kit which is a good job. Why? Cause the injection canopy don't fit and would be probably better suited as a greenhouse for ants!! Edited September 11, 2010 by RobMac
mrcooljules Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 i tried to built kit some time ago, due to the fit it still isnt complete many years later lol.
RobMac Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 4 hours into the build. 10.58am. Wings now sanded and added to the fuselage. I once again had to hack into the fuselage sides to get the wings to sit snug against the body. I then super glued them on for quickness. They ain't going anywhere now! Main undercarriage and front undercarriage also done. The main gear wheels snap onto the legs enabling them to fully rotate. A pointless task if you ask me cause the front wheel and leg is all one piece meaning it can't rotate! Right a quick kip is in order cause I'm..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
RobMac Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 9 hours 40 minutes into the build. (and 4 hours sleep later) 16.28pm. Tailplane and booms now completed. They went together without too much drama. 16.34pm Here the booms are fitted to the main frame of the Venom. I had to file the mounting holes on the wings to get the booms to fit but it all lines up nicely. Time to start airbrushing.
RobMac Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 11 hours 20 minutes in. 18.20pm Dark Sea grey applied. I've decided I'm going to hand pain the rest of this model. The masking is just to fiddly.
RobMac Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 13 hours 20 minutes in. 20.20pm I'm running out of time now with only 4 hours left so starting to rush it a bit. Wheels and canopy added and a little more paint added.
RobMac Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 16 hours 40 minutes total build time. 23.40pm FINISHED!! More images going in gallery in a bit.
Enzo the Magnificent Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 That's excellent. And how do I get me one of these kits? That's a short run kit, completed in a blitzbuild of 24 hours!
CPNGROATS Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 RobMac: Very smooth looking Sea Venom...I am impressed..!! BlitzBCheers, ggc
