Micha Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 (edited) At the moment I'm working on an Interflug IL-62 in 1/100 by VEB Plasticart GDR. That old set has got some new decals in the past but I don't know when. What I know is why The DM-SEA was the very first long range jet by the GDR airline Interflug. They got that jet from Russia in April 1970. Just two years later the jet crashed in Wildau (Königs Wusterhausen) near Berlin - just a few kilometers away of my hometown because of a technical malfunction following by a fire on board. In this case someone had to replace those old decals with the sign DM-SEA by newer decals with the sign DM-SEB. But he forget to take the old decals out of the package, I guess. And now I build the DM-SEA in 1/100 and their old colors and signs. To see some first photos of the model airplane just take a look at my IL-62 gallery ... > here. Edited July 19, 2010 by Micha

FalkeEins Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 At the moment I'm working on an Interflug IL-62 in 1/100 by VEB Plasticart GDR. look forward to it... just reading the very interesting article on this company in Jet & Prop 05/2009 - even in the 80's kits of Dornier types were out (too 'pro-Nazi'), while Junkers was OK since his company had been appropriated by the Nazis...
keefr22 Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 That's a really nice model Micha - shows just how well those old VEB kits can build up! And a very fitting tribute to a sad loss as well... Keef

Micha Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 That os a stunning buildWell done Julien thanks If you wanna see an IL-62 then just come to Germany. You can visit some IL-62 on several locations ... one of them is the IL-62 of the Guinness Book of Records which was landed on 900m grass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lkl3jGxCKUI
