Daniel Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Hi Mish, Would BM consider a What If GB for 2010? I have two builds I'd enter, and I'd be prepared to host (though I have no idea what that involves). Anyone else? Dan Edited January 11, 2010 by Daniel
AnonymousDFB1 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Sounds good, any criteria? or just a bog standard What If anything goes?
wkennerley Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Hey I would go with this, I have been wanting to do a Rhodesian Air Force What-if. Wayne
Hypnobear Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I'd be in - I'm sure there would be some nice interesting schemes I could do on some Japanese Aircraft - only problem is I'm already half way through one What If Zero
Wez Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Liking the sound of this one - already got a Whif back story written, it'd be nice to combine it with a model. Wez
AnonymousDFB1 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 It would be nice if every entry had a well researched back story
rkennerley Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) what are the rulz for a what if build Edited December 31, 2009 by rkennerley
Romeo Alpha Yankee Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 It would be nice if every entry had a well researched back story Well researched? Don't you mean well 'made up'? I'd be up for it. Just finshing a What-If Washinton R4 at the mo. Pictures coming soon.
AnonymousDFB1 Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 I think every back story has to have an element of plausibility in it. what are the rulz for a what if build Well for this one we might have to 'invent' some
Daniel Posted January 1, 2010 Author Posted January 1, 2010 Sounds good, any criteria? or just a bog standard What If anything goes? In true what if style, I think it should be be pretty open, however I like the idea of some plausibility - I'm sure we can come up with a few ground rules, I have a few ideas. Dan

If you just want to present it in alternative markings no worries but I think it's the back story that makes it a Whif - "...I chose these markings because they would have been one of the user units had it come into service..." Just my view, not wanting to put anybody off and it wouldn't stop me entering the GB if it was decided that it wasn't necessary - after all, in the eloquent words of the Wooksta! "It's my fekkin model!" Wez
OzH Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 I'd be up for this, I have at least two kits that I would go for. Sounds interesting....
Col. Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 There's a 72nd scale Airfix TSR-2 lurking in the stash I've wanted to do as an initial production machine in service with No. 12 Sqn based at Lossiemouth so this GB sounds ideal. As for rules; There is no reason why this needs to be an aircraft-only build, right? AFVs, ships, figures, space craft... Open to all categories. A back-story to explain the build should be included. As long or short as required to let the world know what you are thinking. Perhaps make two categories? One for a simple change in colour scheme or markings - such as a 12 Sqn. TSR-2 - and another for more involved plastic surgery - say a delta-winged Hunter for example.
Col. Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 When would you think it best to hold this one Mish? Had a quick look at the calendar and guessing it would be second half of the year at the earliest.
Dustyjack Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 I'd quite fancy building a What if or two so I'd like to join in as well. Jack
AnonymousDFB1 Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 When would you think it best to hold this one Mish? Had a quick look at the calendar and guessing it would be second half of the year at the earliest. Yes your right Col, all future GBs will be in the 2nd half of the year now
Col. Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Yes your right Col, all future GBs will be in the 2nd half of the year now How would a September 1st to April 1st timescale suit everyone? A finished gallery of What-ifs on All Fools Day Think this would avoid excess overlap with existing GBs and the potential Korean War one Daz suggested.
wkennerley Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Sounds good to me, will give me time to save up and to find the kit I need.
Daniel Posted January 1, 2010 Author Posted January 1, 2010 Yep, would suit me, allow me to slowly build up the bits and pieces I need for my planned two builds. Dan
AnonymousDFB1 Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 I have the kit, the decals and the back story in fact I have the TSR.2 as well along with some nice AM decals could be a busy GB for me
Daniel Posted January 1, 2010 Author Posted January 1, 2010 Mish, I have a TSR2 (1/48) as well, with lots of goodies, so could be interesting - a 'typical' what if really. I also have an idea thats a bit 'out there', that I am really loking forward to. Dan
Roland Pulfrew Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 I'm up for a WhIf GB. I have a few TSR2s in 1/48th and 1/72nd that I would love to get on with. I also have some ideas for a few other nationality/type combinations that would fit a WhIf build.
