darson Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Good luck. Will be watching with great interest. I'll be watching this one so I can steal er, leverage your face painting secrets Mish.
AnonymousDFB1 Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 Well I hope I don't disappoint you as all my 1:35 efforts have looked like Odo from Deep Space 9
Stebos Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Good luck with this one Mish, if I remember right from my GW miniature painting days, the key is layering up in thin coats and blending while wet.
AnonymousDFB1 Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 Well I've made a start. All the parts have been checked and washed ready for assembly and painting. I've put a base coat of flesh on the head.
daz greenwood Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Ouch I bet that hurts! Looking good so far mate. Can't wait to see more.
AnonymousDFB1 Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 (edited) Well I've added a bit of colour to our Axis friend. He actually looks better than he does in the photo. He has a lot more variation in skin tones. I will have to try adjusting the lighting. I'm not happy with the eyes yet, it's just that they are damn small to work on Edited February 10, 2009 by Mish
timbo33 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I'm a bit dim with figures Mish - does 120mm mean he's 120mm tall? I guess that means if he's 6 foot tall (1.8m) it's a scale of about 1/15? Looking pretty good anyway - I suppose it's like any modelling, if you've got a bigger model it's easier to work on but you also need to put more detail in...can't see Dazz painting eyes on his 1/72 figures !!!!

Yes Tim he is 120mm tall about 6", mix of resin and PE and I've tried painting 1:35 figures and 1:48 both with no success. Hope this one goes better.
daz greenwood Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Tim. I have painted eyes on my 1/72nd scale figures.
timbo33 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 (edited) Tim.I have painted eyes on my 1/72nd scale figures. You've gotta be kiddin me!!! If so Dazz I take my hat off to you - I can barely paint figures in 1/48 and if I try to put eyes on they look like they've had a serious shock!!! Edited February 10, 2009 by timbo33
AnonymousER99 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Looking really good Mish Just one comment if I may. You may want to touch up over the top of the upper left lip. Looks like grandma gave him a big kiss with fresh lipstick . What shade is it do ya reckon?

AnonymousDFB1 Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 Okay a little more done. A bit more colour and detail. I think the boots are looking good. And mad a start on the hands and arms. I'm really enjoying this.
Mike Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Kerblammo! I'm sorry, but it looks like he's just been blown out of his boots Those boots look good btw

AndyL Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Looking really good Mish...and to think I had that in my stash for years! Good to see it being built
timbo33 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Figure's looking good Mish - I like the five o'clock shadow and the boots.......I suppose you've just got to to join it all up now LOL!!!
Stebos Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Love the weathering on those boots. A good tip for eyes on small figures is to make sure the whites are in the corners only, it's always tempting to dot the iris in centrally, but too much white surround gives that googly eyes look! You seem to have avoided that though.
