Doug Rogers Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 (edited) Morning all, been trying to get some more done on my Gulf War GB Abrams before starting in with this one. First Airliner I've ever done so looking forward to doing it; Here's the sprue layout, got some pretty major sink marks around the front and rear bulkheads, but nothing that can't be sorted I'm sure. Hoping to make some progress today! Edited August 31, 2010 by Doug Rogers
Doug Rogers Posted August 12, 2010 Author Posted August 12, 2010 OK, got her pretty much together now and started laying down some paint. Been using Humbrol 22 for the white, which after a couple of thin coats doesn't look too bad. Painted most of the rest of the airframe in Humbrol 21 Gloss Black ready for the Alclad polished Aluminium. Painted the inner panels on the wings Humbrol 64 Light Grey. Hoping to get the Silver on over the weekend or Monday. Looks a little scruffy at the moment, hoping it'll all come together at the end!
Doug Rogers Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 (edited) Got some more done yesterday, painted the Alclad Polished Aluminium. First time I've used it, quite tricky stuff to get a perfect finish with; Hope to get some transfers on soon. Edited August 23, 2010 by Doug Rogers
Doug Rogers Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 Just got this one finished, and managed to take advantage of the lovely weather today; Painted with Humbrol 22 Gloss White and Alclad Polished Aluminium. Transfers were a bit of a worry at times, the long fuselage stripes curled up in just about every direction you can imagine, and I was a gnats whisker away from giving up on them, but managed to beat them into submission in the end. Two firsts for me actually, first Airliner, and believe it or not first Jet aircraft in my collection! Hope you like it, more pics in the gallery.
mitchem Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Crikey ! Another excellent model for the gallery - well done Doug. (I can see myself throwing the towel in......)
CliffB Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Really nice work Doug I love these period markings so much more than modern ones (showing my age!). Cliff
