This is the one I bought for the GB, so this is the one I'm starting with:

AZUR3472-150.jpg

Hope to get started soon after the April kick-off date as there are other blimp-donated kits I'd love to squeeze into this GB.

There's a nice summary of what's in the box, courtesy of Internetmodeller: LINKY

I like unusual stuff! Spits, Mustangs and 109s are all well and good, but this hobby is FULL of weird and wonderful kits!

First few pics...

A very dinky little kit, but i don't think it's gonna be much fun separting the whole cockpit floor from the resin block. It's one whole piece and I have nasty feeling I'll snap the thing whilst sawing.

Nicely moulded - couple of chunky ejector pin stubs on the insides of the wing halves, but as you see, I've already whipped those off and stuck the wings together, plus the resin nacelles.

More soon, I hope...

So these are the large parts of resin removed. No idea how I am gonna the weeny parts off without breaking them.

These seats need to be removed; that'll be no problem. But on the left side of the blocks you can see the very narrow exhausts which will need to be removed.

hubba hubba

must get cracking so i can get mine done too- probably post GB

see what you mean Maxidad - looks a tad tricksey

vertical cuts either side of the exhausts first then remove parts from the block?

Hello, lovely little plane. I am building it as well, but quite slowly:

GAL ST-25 Free French

I'm very slow on this too. I have worked with resin before but not these tiny thin pieces. In any case, I have huge work commitments at the moment, and the small amount of time I have left for modelling is going into getting a small Spitfire finished for a GB on ARC.

Interesting what you've done on your build with the canopy; I'll be interested to see how that turns out before I tackle mine.

Any progress Maxidad?

Yes some progress. I had hoped I might get two builds done for this GB, but I doubt it now. (I still haven't finished the P47 for the D-Day GB :raincloud: )

As for this build, I have got the cockpit in and fuselage halves together - seems filled and sanded. But bloody hell! :banghead: that flipping vacform canopy is a complete nightmare. I have spent hours footling around with the damn thing and last night I finally managed a dry fit that looked reasonable. So it got a Klear-bath and tonight I might manage to get it in place.

I'll see if i can get a couple of pix posted.

thanks Maxidad

look forward to seeing some pics- though it all sounds very ominous re that there vac canopy! :yikes:

it does look rather tricky, and i must confess that i don't have a lot of experience with them but thanks to Blimp that will all change

I also feel frustrated that i am now unlikely to complete 2 builds for the GB. :(

if you get the Monospar built though it will be a real treat :D

Here's the pit. Pity now I did not add some seat belts, as the the canopy is very wide.

You can see why I had trouble cutting the canopy; it's a bugger of a shape:

Now the dreaded vac form. They supply two; you can see what it looks like before and after hacking.

And in situ, but not yet glued:

- a belated tip off , Hannants has this kit on special offer . . .

Thanks.

I'm a bit further along - the canopy was still a bugger to get in, and suffered some marking in the installation. It's currenly now beneath masking tape to protect it as I assemble and paint. Pix later.

Very belated  Anyway, I don't need more than one!

eek that is not gonna be easy!

also brings back bad memories of the Heller Dragon Rapide canopy fit- and that was injection moulding AAAARGHHH! :frantic:

will be worth the effort though as she is such a sweet bird!

looks like there is enough room to still add seat belts Maxidad?

the office looks very nice btw

putting up a bit of a fight eh ? - glad i 'disposed ' of it now :P ( p.s. i still have a load of scw kits looking for a good home . . . )

Wings on. No locating pins on this kit, so it required drilling holes and putting sprue "pegs" in the mating surfaces. I have done this now, but anyone know of a thread which shows a good way of doing this. Because I spent ages footling around.

Just to keep the thread up-to-date. The canopy is now done - all frame-painted. Undercarriage is on - which required cutting new struts from styrene sheet, as the kit ones were too short.

Just gotta "Klear"-it, decal it and weather it. Pics later.

Well, it's done. Rather a strange little kit - the hardest things were the lack of locating pins, which made the wings and the vertical tail surfaces tricky to align and keep in place. Finished in Vallejo Aluminium and Revell bright red (don't know the #).

IMG_0414.jpg

There were decals for the Republican tricolour on the tail, but I masked and painted instead, mixing the purple from acrylics.

IMG_0408.jpg

As mentioned previously, the biggest headache was the vacform canopy which was a nightmare to trim and file. It took ages, extended by the need to calm down and walk away from the kit, when I started to lose my patience.

IMG_0407.jpg

I wish I'd have busied up the cockpit a bit, as it's very visible.

IMG_0412.jpg

Propellers done with a tan acyrlic, brushed with brown oil and then "Kleared" when dry. (They're supoosed to be located at the top of nacelle - looks odd doesn't it?)

IMG_0406.jpg

As usual, the macro shows every damn blemish. Still I don't really mind - not in this scale anyway.

a stirling job there rich , not an easy subject but you've done a fine job of it :worthy: a very pretty little kite . magnifico !

Looking very smart!.

It's strange that the props aren't in the center of the cowlings.Never seen that before.

You did good with that canopy, I can see how it would have been a total pain...

Those props look excellent, you nailed the wood effect!
