Marek Swiderski Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I think is time for my first wip relation on Britmodeller. It is a Sea King HAR3, from Revell kit 1/48 scale, it is re-boxed Hasegawa kit. Needs many upgrades to get HAR3 version. Couple years ago I bought Flightpath resin [conversion kit] honestly only for a few parts and engine filter box. Rest of them are self made parts. Many thanks to SARowl for interior pictures, and my Norwegian friend, Sindre supported me with pictures of sponson landing lamp and main rotor head.
perdu Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 That must be real water/fluid in those bottles I love this A; its a chopper B; it's a SAR chopper C; it's lovely work I love it, can you tell? bill
Lynx7 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Outstanding work mate!! looking forward to further progress.
gmoss Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Very nice! Detail is awesome - will be following this one
Scott Hemsley Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 1/48 isn't my scale, but this build has caught my attention! Love the detail you've put into the interior. What did you use to make the communications cords hanging in the cockpit? Scott
shark 64 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Nice work. I like the cockpit and interior work. Did you strip the paint on the fuselage and plan to repaint? Oliver
heloman1 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Tasty work there Marek, I like the thought that has gone into your build, like painting the sponsons before attaching them, so as to avaiod difficulty in the fuselage paint stage. I do like you interior, especially the dispatchers harnesses, something which normally gets overlooked. Thanks for sharing you build with us. Colin on the Africa Station
Michaelvk Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 That is very, very nice work indeed.. Must buy wire so I don't get shown up with the Lanc..
SARowl Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Marek, Are you still after some photos of the FLIR ball under the left hand sponson? If yes, pm me with your personal e-mail and I'll forward them. John
Alpha Delta 210 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Hi Unbelievable work on this Sea King! I don't know if these shots of a Wattisham helo will be of use as you finish her off? Taken from my back garden last August. Keep up the excellent work.
JeffreyK Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 (edited) That's great work! The interiour detail is stunning. I can't wait to see more...Yellow paint is a pain, isn't it? It seems to get EVERYWHERE and just refuses to clean up, you wipe and wipe and wipe but there just seems to be still more of it in the airbrush, on the brush, the paint cup, your fingers...I once sprayed a New York taxi model, before I had an airbrush booth and there was a yellow dust in the whole room, even the landing outside the room...(or perhaps it's just me) Cheers Jeffrey Edited March 16, 2012 by JeffreyK
perdu Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 It's NOT JUST YOU Jeffrey Considering how much I hate spraying yellow I dont know why I keep making SAR machines Marek I love how this is looking (Think I should have subcontracted the painting on mine to you) You have done it far better than me It is becoming a lovely helicopter AD 210, those are great SeaKing pics, they just dived into my research folder for a future build! bill
Alpha Delta 210 Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 AD 210, those are great SeaKing pics, they just dived into my research folder for a future build!bill Happy to help with the pictures (didn't mean to hijack). It's quite awe-inspiring being underneath the Sea King at such a low altitude! PS What are the cables slung underneath?

The underslung cable arrangement seem to be the same as the ones on Wessexes in which case they are for underslung cargo Cannot remember the weight limit for those, I think it was about 500kg but might be very wrong bill
Marek Swiderski Posted March 17, 2012 Author Posted March 17, 2012 Thanks Guys for comments. Yellow paint is Model Master #1569. You are right with yellowish dust, I was painting it from small distance with as low as possible pressure, in my opinion it's making less dust.
shark 64 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Yellow painted helo. I really like that. I came close of doing my Huey in yellow. Did a study on it but the three color camo version won over it (whenever I get to paint the Huey)... Watching your build. Oliver
