Paul Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 I was going to do an FG.1 in Black Mike markings, but someone else has got there first. (also I'm always reluctant to build any Fujimi spey phantoms as they look so good in the stash!) Instead I'll be doing this Here is my last effort at a RoG F-4F This one should be easier though as the decals were very fiddly indeed on my last one.
ollieholmes Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Ive got this kit in the stash now and i may just enter with it.
Paul Posted July 31, 2011 Author Posted July 31, 2011 I've finally started! First the back end Then the cockpit And then I got carried away with the main build, it just goes together so well this kit
bexwh773 Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Great start Paul, Ive got this one in the stash too!! Bexy
Alan Hooker Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Looking good. I've also got this one to do, although after the nightmare I've just had with the decals on the tigermeet RF, I may find alternate markings rather than chance more large Revell decals!! They are great little kits, though
Navy Bird Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 And then I got carried away with the main build, it just goes together so well this kit Hi Paul, the kit really is a good one. Easily the best fitting 1:72 Phantom II that I've ever built, and that includes both Hasegawa and Fujimi. Good luck with the rest of your build - I love these special anniversary schemes - there's only so much boring grey camo one can take! Cheers, Bill

Navy Bird Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Thanks Bill, I could do with a boring grey scheme at the moment as I'm in decal hell! Ah, yes. Decal hell. Spent many a day there! Looks like it's going well, though, eh? I take it the "5" and "0" plus the shading on the wings are each one decal per wing, right? I like it a lot! I can't quite tell from the photos though - is the base color grey or silver? This is going to look very cool when finished! Cheers, Bill

I put them on in one piece rather than cut them up as the wings are nice and flat. Thanks for the comments guys
Paul Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 I've finally finished the decals, some heart stopping moments were had along the way! I should get it finished tomorrow
Navy Bird Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Wow, really good job on the decals! My hat is off to you! Cheers, Bill
Paul Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 Wow, really good job on the decals! My hat is off to you!Cheers, Bill Thanks Bill Finished today, more pics in the gallery. Thanks to the hosts Bex and Steve and those who have commented on my build
MikeR Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Wow, really good job on the decals! My hat is off to you!Cheers, Bill Ditto - awesome job! Mike.
Navy Bird Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Paul, The finished build looks great! Now I've got this idea running around in my brain to do a collection of special themed Phantoms - there is no end to the possibilities! You said that the base coat of the model was silver - whose paint did you use? Humbrol High Speed Silver maybe? I really loved the Revell F-4F - probably the nicest kit of theirs that I've ever built. Cheers, Bill
Paul Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 Thanks Mike! Bill, I used games workshop mithril silver, which is the only brand of metalic paint I use now. I'll look forward to seeing your phantoms
