Shaun Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 (edited) Here is the Airfix 1/72nd Tucano T.1. The model was built out of the box. The only things changed were the decals, which came from the Extradecal sheet. Shaun. Edited January 11, 2008 by Shaun

That scheme suits the airframe so much better than the original white/grey/red one IMHO. David W.
periklis_sale Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Very nice and clean work my friend!!!!!
speedy Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Brilliant. How much lead did you put in the nose?, mine tail sits so had to use stretched clear sprue!
bexwh773 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 COme on Shaun, fess up where did u steal photos of a real one from????? Seriously though, very very nice work Bex
Shaun Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 (edited) Thanks folks, I really enjoyed making this model. It was a nice change to just paint the main colour and not worry about weathering and masking problems. Nice easy colour scheme Brilliant. How much lead did you put in the nose?, mine tail sits so had to use stretched clear sprue! As much as you can fit!! I packed the nose with lead and blue tack and it was still just enough to hold the nose down. I also packed lead into the rear of the front undercarrage bay once the fuselage was togeather Shaun. atdb27 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Very Nice Shaun. the finish looks great. I once made many years ago one in R/W/G with Aeroclub Prop replacement. It does make a nice model and yours is awesome! Adrian
Karl Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Great Build Shaun - The paint finish is superb. Hope my 1/48 Aconcagua Tucano looks half as good when it's finished. Karl
Rich F Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Nice build Shaun. Very neat job especially round the canopy edging.
thx6667 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 That's nice Shaun, what Xtradecal sheet number is that? I can remember buying that kit in Bath ("The Modellers Den") in the autumn of 1990, meant to make another ever since - sheesh that was nearly 20 years ago! BTW there's talk that the Alpha Jet fleet might end up in a similar all-black scheme in the future.
eng Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Beautiful build - makes me want to resurrect mine now! Eng
Shaun Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 (edited) That's nice Shaun, what Xtradecal sheet number is that? The 72 Sqn decals came from Extradecal sheet X72-067. These decals are very nicely printed by have a major error! The printers used a dark shade of red to print the sheet, to dark for the Tucano red markings and roundels. What I did was use the red centres from the kit sheet and fin flash and also replaced the red boarder around the squadron bars. A bit more work, but worth the effort. "BTW there's talk that the Alpha Jet fleet might end up in a similar all-black scheme in the future." I would not be surprised, it seems the in colour as the moment. Will be easyer to paint than the current Luftwaffe lizard scheme. Shaun. Edited January 11, 2008 by Shaun
Troffa Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Fantastic build Sean, the MDC on the canopy is particularly impressive, is that decal or paint? Cheers, Troffa
