Sukhoi Superjet 100 Airliner

1:144 injection moulded kit from Zvezda

The Sukhoi Superjet is a jet powered regional airliner that first flew in 2008 and entered service with Armavia in April 2011. The Superjet 100 is designed to seat between 75-95 passengers in high comfort with its modern and up to date cabin fittings. It is powered by a pair of SaM-146 engines set in pods under the wings produced by the Russian-French joint venture PowerJet using fly-by-wire technology.

The kit is set over 3 sprues, including one clear. The fuselage comes in the usual 2 halves, with the rudder being moulded on half. The moulding is as you will expect from Zvezda first class, in the usual slightly rough grey plastic with all the panel lines being very finely engraved. The detail on the parts is fantastic, and I have shown some close up shots below,

The wings come in 3 parts, with the fuselage belly and inner lower section of the wings in one part. Again as expected the detail is very nice and the engraved lines are spot on scale. The trailing edges are very thin and on scale.

A 2 part stand is included but this looks massive for such a small model! Should you want to mount the model in-flight a section of the fuselage belly needs removing but this is shown on the kit part.

There is a clear sprue that has all cabin and flight deck windows included. The flight deck having engraved lines to help with masking if you want clear windows.

The decal sheet covers an Aeroflot airliner, and is quite nicely done and comprehensive but some of the finer details are not great. I have no doubt some aftermarket sheets will soon appear.

Conclusion

A nice high quality kit of this Russian airliner from Zvezda. Fine details and even a nice decal from the box!

Very nice. I'm nostalgic for the agricultural look of the old Soviet airliners though!

I snuck inside one of Armarvia's SSJ's last week. What a beautiful flightdeck. JA fair bit slicker than an Airbus. I might have a few pictures somewhere.
