Shar2 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Etched sets for DKM Hipper, DKM Scharnhorst/Gneisenau and USS Indianapolis1/700 Seeing that I model almost exclusively in 1/350 or larger it was interesting to get these three 1/700 etched sets from White Ensign Models. Whilst they are smaller than the larger scale sets, both in the size of sheets and number of parts, they are still packed with relief etched detail. Each set comes on a single sheet of about 210mm x 74mm. The sheets have a full ships worth of railings, new catapults, yards, radars, hatches, vertical and inclined ladders and even parts for the ships aircraft, which in this scale is pretty darn small. The cranes on each set are really fine as are the radar aerials. DKM Admiral Hipper (39 parts) DKM Scharnhorst/Gneisenau (40 parts) USS Indianapolis (52 parts) Recommended to all those who build model ships in this scale. White Ensign Models have kept to their usual high standard with all three sets filled with wonderful detail. DKM Admiral Hipper DKM Scharnhorst USS Indianapolis Review sample courtesy of John at
Paul A H Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 The White Ensign 1:700 etch sets I've used before have been fantastic quality and these look just as good.
Shar2 Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 They are nice Paul. This is the first time I've seen 1/700 etch up close and was surprised how crisp the detail was and the parts don't look too small to work with either.
