Paul A H Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 European Town House 1:76 Airfix Hot on the heels of their European Four Storey Shop, Airfix have released another resin building that could be thought of as a companion piece; a European Town House. As with the previous model, this is a one-piece resin building that requires no assembly other than the optional addition of the included pre-cut photo etch window frames. Although the model appears to be reasonably tough, the packaging takes account of the fact that resin is more brittle than plastic and everything is safely wrapped up safe from harm in expanded polystyrene. Cast in the usual hard, white resin, the level of detail on this piece is just as good, if not better, than the four storey shop ruin. The building depicted is a three storey house with partial floors on the top two storeys. The outside walls are rendered, but the lovely brickwork detail shows through in places to represent damaged areas. Patches of bullet holes are also dotted around the walls here and there. As with the last model, the floorboards and roof tiles are too thick for the scale, but this is a necessity as if they were any thinner they would be too fragile. As before, the window frames fit nicely into place, and again they will need to be cleaned up a little to remove the attachment points that are present on the metal parts here and there. Conclusion It’s good to see Airfix expanding their range of resin buildings as they are really excellent little models. They would look just as good on the wargaming table as they would built into a diorama, and with a little extra work they will look really special. If you haven’t got one of these already, I highly recommend them. Review sample courtesy of
