Mike Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Mig-21MF Weekend Edition 1:48 Eduard We reviewed the Mig-21MF Profipack in April 2011 here, and now Eduard have released their optimistically titled "Weekend Edition"... optimistic mainly because of the part count! The sprues inside the box, are the same as the Profipack, but there is no Photo-Etch or resin included, and only one decal option. The sprues are moulded in a pleasant RAF uniform blue, and of course the quality of the mouldings is excellent. Below I have reproduced the sprue shots from the earlier review for expediency, as our webspace is not limitless afterall! Just think calming blue as you peruse them. The decal sheet is a subset of the Profipack offering, for a Mig-21MF of the German Democratic Republic, Jagdfliegergeschwader 3, Preschen Airbase, 1990. It includes some nice instrument panel decals to make up for the lack of PE, which are applied over the three dimensional plastic panels. The decals are cleanly printed, with good register and high colour density. Just don't expect the sheet to be too small, as there are still a myriad of stencils to add once the painting is complete. As usual, a page of the instructions is devoted to the identification and placement of the stencil decals. Conclusion There is no denying that this is an excellent kit, and these lower cost Weekend Editions open up the market to those that would not or could not afford the higher priced Profipacks for whatever reason. Provision of new boxart and the instrument panel decals are nice touches, and you'll finish the weekend with a few extra Russian munitions to add to the spares box.
