AnonymousAA74 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 (edited) Hi guys, It the 21st, so as I'm trying to get the Skyraider built to deadline, I'll post the sprue shots for you here on Britmodeller. More! More.... Edited July 21, 2011 by James H
Mike Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I think a hearty is in order there. Another one I'd break scale for
AnonymousAA74 Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 ......more.. ...and more... ...and the last.. NOW...please remember this is a final TEST SHOT, and I know there to be refinements even after this. I have spent 6 days painting and assembling, and have so far found this an absolute joy to build. I can't post any assembly photos as of yet without clearance from ZM. Enjoy folks!! Jim
ForestFan Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 If only I had won a part of that £160m+ lottery win!! Maybe I can sell a kidney! Looks great, one for the wish list methinks FF

jacksdad Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 WOW. That looks simply incredible. What's the price for it? Steve
heloman1 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 The new Spad kit looks fantastic, However 32nd scale is out of my league, so I'll leave the rest of you too it and I'll drooooool over you efforts. Many thanks for bring us the pics of the test shots. Colin
Jennings Heilig Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Looks impressive! That's gonna be a big momma. Curious why they lavished so much attention to detail and then wimped out on the cockpit. The cockpit detail looks like a 1/72 kit. The IP is just a bunch of clocks. Strange.
AnonymousAA74 Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 Looks impressive! That's gonna be a big momma. Curious why they lavished so much attention to detail and then wimped out on the cockpit. The cockpit detail looks like a 1/72 kit. The IP is just a bunch of clocks. Strange. Two IP's are included. The one you see in silver has instruments moulded in, and the other is the transparent IP with no instrument detail. You can use your own decals in there if you wish. Having built the cockpit, I can tell you it looks far from a 1/72 kit. Perhaps if this was a Tamiya kit, you'd say otherwise
Shar2 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I know they spent a lot of time and effort on this kit, but I was surprised to see that they are already introducing additional detail sets in conjunction with Eduard for the engine, cockpit and flaps. For the price of the kit they really should have included these.
AnonymousAA74 Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 It is an odd marketing concept to produce your own 'AM' sets, I agree. They have had this same arrangement with previous kits too, but I suppose that not including them keeps the price down for those not interested in them. I would have quite liked to have seen them for this build, but then again, I wouldn't have had the time to lavish on installing them. Maybe for the next one though!
Mike Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Apologies to Hyperscale for pinching this pic of the Tamiya kit's IP from a build review Clocks Vs clocks methinks
AnonymousAA74 Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 ZM also provide an IP decal if you wish to use it, but I don't think the relief of the IP will allow useage. Personally, I'd use Mike Grant decals, or Airscale ones, such as I used, on the clear IP part.
Wurzacher Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 ...Curious why they lavished so much attention to detail and then wimped out on the cockpit. The cockpit detail looks like a 1/72 kit. The IP is just a bunch of clocks. Strange. Wimped out on the cockpit? Detail as a 1/72 kit? Are you sure you see the same pictures as I do? This whole kit bristles with details! Maybe you should consider a second look?!? Thomas
c.smith10 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 that is one awesome looking spad kit! whats the cost? and is it limited edition?

airscale Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Personally, I'd use Mike Grant decals, or Airscale ones, such as I used, on the clear IP part. now that is interesting... co-incidentally we are releasing instrument ranges for Early Jets on 5th August, many of which are found in the SPAD Peter airscale
AnonymousAA74 Posted July 23, 2011 Author Posted July 23, 2011 now that is interesting...co-incidentally we are releasing instrument ranges for Early Jets on 5th August, many of which are found in the SPAD Peter airscale Damn!!
AnonymousAA74 Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 I've been given the go-ahead to post a couple of in-progress shots of the Skyraider. Please remember that the last shot is taken like that (obviously) for style only and you need to close the fuse up before you fit the wing. You also need to fully complete the wing, with outboard folding mechanism, before you fit to the fuse. I love this kit so far, despite it being a 1000 miles from what I would normally build. It's certainly a beast when all plugged together. Last night I primed her and tonight added a little 'colour'
