Darius at Home Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 (edited) This kit went together like a dream, well engineered. great fit and great decals. Well done Airfix!!! Darius PS - presumably GastonMarty is still chopping filling and sanding his example so as to match the photo on his pc... Edited July 13, 2011 by Darius at Home
AndyC Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Darius That looks fantastic! Even though I don't model FAA as a rule, that looks so gorgeous, I may have to start a sub-collection! Andy
jenko Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Really nice. Just on the last legs of doing mine. If 5 years ago you were handed this kit no one would have believed it was from Airfix. It's a real credit to them.
Rob C Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Very nice. Very nice indeed. I may have to get one of these.
Vulcanicity Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Looks a dream too! You've got too fine examples there
BasicModelling Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Beautiful.. Well done Airfix.. and very well done to you too..

stannaduk Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Got one of these recently - your model is an inspiration.
merlin101 Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Excellent work there, mines gona be in same markings! Dave
Miggers Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Another one!!!. Also excellent,it's a real gem of a kit. Detail painting mine's 'pit(just opened the door actually),then I've a couple of other little tweaks in mind. I'm not 100% sure whether to do the Culham kite or the presently indisposed but still lovely SX336. The high demarcation scheme so suits the late Seafs and even more so with a set of three spoke wheels and those wing bulges over the wells. Mark
Enzo the Magnificent Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Darius, it's a thing of joy and beauty! I'm not 100% sure whether to do the Culham kite or the presently indisposed but still lovely SX336. I will shortly be starting three Seafires in a batch: a XVII in the Temperate Sea Scheme, using the superb Freightdog decal sheet; a Canadian XV, using the fuselage from a Spitfire XII and the spread wing from a Seafire XVII; and a folded wing Seafire XVII using the remaining bits from the donor kit. I was originally intending to use Freightdog decals for the second XVII, but after seeing Darius' excellent model, I wanna do one of those... That unit badge on the tail is just irresistible. Of course , that leaves me with at least two more options from the Freightdog sheet to do in the future. That silver one with yellow trainer bands is a definite! Just think... two years ago, who would have thought that we would have been spoiled for choice forsuch an obscure subject as the Seafire XVII? And I'm now considering a Seafire PR.XVIII for the next What If GB.
Miggers Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Our very own Tony O'Toole did the silver and yellow bands a few years ago using the Aeroclub conversion and Airfix wing to very good effect. Mark
fullnavy Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Kit interesting. How to fan of planes used on aircraft carriers, and this model certainly be included among my next purchase. Nice work. Fulvio
