Mike Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 A-7 Exterior (Hobbyboss) 1:48 Eduard Detail on the Hobbyboss kit is good, but as always can be improved. This set gives you a lot of subtle but important upgrades for the exterior of your E-model SLUF (Slow Little Ugly... er, Friend). First up is a set of stator vanes for the intake compressor face and ribbing for either side of the exhaust, plus a neat lip for the exhaust. The gear bays come in for a neat set of update parts to spruce them up, as do the bay doors, with a pretty comprehensive set of skins for the insides and realistic hinge/attachment points. A few parts are used on the landing gear legs, adding brake housing details, and a floor is provided for the arrestor hook housing, with the remaining parts used in detailing the attachment faces of the major pylons, giving lots of extra detail to those often neglected areas. The final few parts are used in upgrading the ordnance with filler plugs and rear details. Conclusion A nice set, of primary use on the underside of the airframe, but the addition of intake/exhaust details should be of interest to all. There are no complex shapes to fold, so this set should be suitable for all but total novice modellers. A PDF file of the instruction sheet can be found here. Review sample courtesy of
