This addition to Platz’s ever expanding range of photo etch detail sets is dedicated to a product of their native Japan – the Mitsubishi T-2 trainer. The instructions don’t specify if this set is designed to fit a particular kit, but seeing as Hasegawa’s T-2 is the only game in town, we’ll assume that it is the intended recipient. As is the case with their fret for the H-19 Chickasaw, this pre-painted set is produced by Eduard and as you might expect it looks to be a high-quality product with plenty of fine detail on show.

The instructions are printed in colour on A4 paper and are nice and clear. Most of the parts provided are designed for use in and around the T-2’s large cockpit. Harnesses and other parts are provided to add detail to both of the kit ejector seats. The rest of the cockpit is catered for by two-part instrument panels, consoles, throttles and rudder pedals. Rear view mirrors, grab handles and other details are provided for the canopies. Naturally great care will have to be taken when applying these to the clear plastic. The rest of the fret is taken up with various blade aerials and details for the undercarriage.

Conclusion

This is a great little set that will really enhance the basic Hasegawa kit. There is a sensible amount of parts on the fret too, so etch novices should not be afraid.
