HI Everyone

Last night the compressor decided to run itself on auto setting which woke me and the missus up,

Strange I thought and turned it off and went back to sleep, anyway today I investigated further and noticed

that it would not stop running So I switched it off and heard a definate hissing So I went to the drain Plug and tightened this gently with a Spanner

I could still hear a hiss on repressurising the tank but could not find where it was coming from eventually I found that the metal linkage between the compressor motor and the tank

where it Joins at the tank has a double nut Arrangement presumably for tightning purposes I never got as far as placing a spanner around the nut as soon as I tried the bloody ******* !!! thing

moved with no effort and then promptly fell off on inspection it had completely sheared off at the tank and taken the thread for the linkage with it, the metal looks thin guage and really soft

anyway its pretty knackered unless any one here knows otherwise, I will need at the very least a new tank and linkage as the whole thing only cost £ 90 new is this viable, the motor works fine

Iam So Angry as the whole thing still looks new as its only about 18 months old and for quite a lot of that time not used much I would definately say you get what you pay for

Money Is really tight and I really liked the idea of the tank and auto shut off and it was also fairly quiet

Looks like Iam going to have to reluctantly stop Airbrushing for a while as a hairy stick is a non starter I really could Cry!!

I don't know this compressor at all, could you get the part thats sheared off welded back on, if you can, you would probably get your local garage to do it for a few quid, but like I've said not knowing this compressor it may not be possible.

I agree. Take it to a local welder or possibly someone that works with pressure piping. They should be able to fix it quite cheap.

Its not a clean shear there are remnants of the metal pipe broken off inside the thread and how do I know this didn't happen due to poor quality "Chinese" air tanks

Not sure if I trust this air tank anymore for all i know Its corroded inside there is evidence of corrosion on the metal pipe and little rust flakes with the water

when I drained the tank which I did after every use just annoys me that the internet is full of people happy with this compressor as I was till today grrrrrr!!!

Thanks Chaps

Thinking further I could never risk mine and my familys safety with pressurised equipment which essentialy would be a bodge/patchup/temporary fix

its gotta be a new compressor and not this model what about a fridge compressor or 2nd hand compressors but besides ebay I wouldn't know where to start

any ideas

Either the Little-Tank, or in my opinion, maybe even better, the Sil-Air 15EA at air-craft.net.

You are welcome to try my compressors, they will be at the Shuttleworth show this weekend, Southern Expo next weekend and Hinkley the weekend after.

If you are looking at the sprint jet, have a look at the little-jet I have, it's the same engine, built in the same factory, but without the Iwata branding it's better value for money.

Hi Paul And Denstore

Thanks for the advice guys I like the look of the Silair compressor and also the Little Jet and little Tank, Does the Little Jet have the cooling hose/system to eliminate pulsing

as I was thinking if this works then I don't really need a tank though silent could be useful I will definately choose one of these hopefully next week fingers crossed

Cheers

Justin
