Lieuwe Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Hi, I recently discovered this website when I was looking for information for my F-104G drawings. I'd like to show you some of the other work I have done; First up some F-16's, I am not to fond of the nose shape on this one so I might rework them in the near future.
Lieuwe Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 More Vipers And two Hawker Hunters I did for a client
xffw45343tg Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Very nice, particularly the shading. Can I ask where you get the original basic outline? Do you work just by eye?
Lieuwe Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 They're lovely, keep them coming!Antony Thanks Antony! Very nice, particularly the shading. Can I ask where you get the original basic outline? Do you work just by eye? Mostly I work from linedrawings in books like the SAM Modellers datafile series etc. For some smaller objects like bombs I sometimes use photographs but for larger things like entire aircraft lenses etc. tend to distort the shapes a bit. Some assorted F-104's And a close-up to show some of the detail in these drawings
speedlimit Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Awesome artwork. Waiting to see the phantoms! Eric
Lieuwe Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 Phantoms! Bear in mind these are some of my earliest work and will get reworked soon I hope to do some RAF(G) and RN tooms then too! First up, yanks!
Lieuwe Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 More American machines, this time from the US Navy! A painting also featuring this one is hanging in the pentagon! Recently I built this one in 1:48 using a Hasegawa F-4J
Lieuwe Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 The reason I want to rework the Phantom's is two-fold really. The Phantoms were the first planes I made a serious effort of to create profile drawings. Before I made textures as a hobby for games like Il-2, Operation Flashpoint and the Microsoft Flight simulator series. A lot of the skills needed to make textures for game engines that lack self shading come in handy for profile drawings. How ever the Photoshop files for these are set up really inefficiently plus the shapes are not 100% on the navy machines. I recently bought a lot of books and I hope to be able to start reworking them in the coming months. The Phantom is the planes I love best, with the Starfighter a close second. I built around 30 1:48 Phantom models so far When I start reworking them I hope to add some RAF and RN phantoms too because those had some of the coolest paintscheme's, so far I've only done one RAF machine for a calender (please excuse inaccuracies!) One of my favorite paintschemes!
Lieuwe Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 Impressive work! Thanks Seadog Some German F-4F's, I drew a whole lot more but don't seem to have them online at the moment. A quick question, do you airbrush your drawings? Nope! I do them all in Photoshop Makes it much easier to do subvariants and different paintschemes.
Jonay Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Before I made textures as a hobby for the Microsoft Flight simulator series. Got any links to your work? They're fantastisch
Lieuwe Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 Got any links to your work? They're fantastisch Well that's a loooong time ago FS98 period, I dont think I still have these on my PC anymore.
Lieuwe Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 Absolutely out of this world...any Harriers? Not yet Plan to do some in the future but sadly there are too few hours in the day
T-Tango Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Ah! Photoshop, I just wondered if they were airbrushed, my ex brother-in-law did side views of cars and he used to airbrush them.
Lieuwe Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 Ah! Photoshop, I just wondered if they were airbrushed, my ex brother-in-law did side views of cars and he used to airbrush them. That must be insanely difficult, sometimes on TV they have these car restoration shows and they have this guy Chip Foose who is the head of the studio. For each car he does a design sketch on paper to show what he wants for the car and to be able to show it to the client. The drawings alone are a artform, some wonderfull drawings that he creates with stuff like giant whiteboard markers etc. It's like watching Bob Ross but with cars!
jimbuna Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Not yet Plan to do some in the future but sadly there are too few hours in the day Look forward to seeing them.
Lieuwe Posted March 20, 2011 Author Posted March 20, 2011 I spent the weekend adding bits and bobs so I could do Royal Canadian Airforce 104's too Pretty excited about all the cool anniversary paintscheme's I'll be able to do based on this template!
