Redboost Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Hi, Czech company Fly anounced for 2011 a whole range of Whitley bomber in 1/72 scale - Mk.I//III/V. I will post more details once available. Cheers Libor
rowmk9 Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 now that does sound interesting. There's certainly a gap in the market for a new tool Whitley. Sure its an ugly plane, but it played its part during the early years of the war Do keep us updated Libor.
Homebee Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 (edited) OK for the Whitleys but we're still waiting the release of the long promised 1/48th BAC Strikemaster/Jet Provost T.5 kit... http://www.fly814.cz/preparing_en.htm V.P. Edited January 15, 2011 by Homebee
Paul A H Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Very interesting! Thanks for the heads-up Libor!
Redboost Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 Here is scan of their latest ad in a local modelling mag.
dylan the rabbit Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Not so interested in the Whitley (don't have the space for it), but the 1/48th Strikemaster does interest me, (in Omani Airforce Dhofar rebellion colours).
kev67 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Are you sure this is not the old Frog kit re-popped as the box art looks very familiar at the bottom, and those DC-9's, I am sure I have seen them some where else as well
Redboost Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 Yes, I'm quite sure, its new tool. The DC-9 is original Fly kit, the Swiss version appeared under AZ Model label.
tangerine_sedge Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Is this the same Fly that produce slot cars? If so, then they should be pretty high quality.
Redboost Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 No, it's the other company. But they are pretty good too.
Julien Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) Aviation mega store in Holland is showing the whitleys at 30 euros. Oh and the Strikemaster at 38 Julien Edited February 4, 2011 by Julien
Paul A H Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Check out the artwork - I'm now officially very excited indeed!
Redboost Posted August 2, 2011 Author Posted August 2, 2011 Paul, you have to wait a month or two, we should see them first at Eday in Prague in September.
Jabba Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Damn and I miss that show by being in Prague a week early.
stratcat Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 (edited) they do indeed look good. Is there a UK supplier? If not do you have a link to the necessary site? edit....oops just noticed the other thread saying hannants Edited August 2, 2011 by stratcat
Paul A H Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Fly are on our review panel, so hopefully once the first one has been released we'll be bringing you a detailed look at it.
Redboost Posted August 3, 2011 Author Posted August 3, 2011 For the time being a few shots what has been already done:
stevehnz Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 My old Novo Whitely is beginning to look increasingly redundant in my stash. It might be time to move it on before it becomes common knowledge this is out there. Steve.
Paul A H Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Thanks Libor - that looks very nice indeed. I know I shouldn't wish my life away, but I can't wait until September now!
Harry Lime Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! After spending most of my youth looking for, but never finding a Frogspawn Whitley, I finally get myself one at a reasonable price and I feel contented that my stash now includes an important type from Bomber Command's inventory. I've looked into what I need to do to make it a little more accurate and planned to build it in the next wee while, and I'm looking forward to the modelling challenge it will no doubt be. So imagine my dismay upon seeing those pictures of nice clean mouldings, crisp yet restrained ENGRAVED panel lines and transparencies that look like you can actually see through them. No doubt the interior will be a delight to behold too and this kit'll go together in a matter of days and look every inch the perfect Whitley. Something tells me the Fates are not so much conspiring against me, they are just being downright bloody vindictive! Mark.
Vingtor Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I got myself a Frog (well Novo really) kit not long ago, as well as resin replacement engines and vacformed transparencies...... Anyway, if anybody fancy a BOAC Whitley, predecessor of the Mosquitos on the Stockholm run, I got a decal sheet ready from the printers today. Unfortunately I have a computer problem that must be solved before I can finish the instruction sheet. Nils www.vingtor.net
Paul A H Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Well chaps, we appreciate your sacrifice on the altar of sod's law!
