Redboost Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 This Albacore kit was originally my FAA group build entry; unfortunately, due to other commitments I was not able to finish it on time. Anyway, during my Christmas holidays I worked on it hardly and finished it in last few days. BF 723 is 826 NAS machine operating in Hal Far, Malta in 1942/43. MPM kit built with few addditions, like modified twin gun mount, ASV aerials and other extra details. Markings came from Tally-Ho and Xtradecals sheets. I would like to express my thanks to Mr. Tony O'Toole for his excellent article in Model Aircraft Monthly (July 2007) which became the main reference material and my major driving force.
Peter Marshall Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Nice Albacore, and a Malta one to boot
beeza1 Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 very nice looking model and well finished - a great job Des.
alex Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 very nice and with a subtle weathering. Looks very good! Alex
blimp Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Redboost , that is just superb ! well worth the delay
Work In Progress Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 There is some expectionally fine detailing on that for 1/72. Are the prop blades on the torpedo photo-etched? I am not famliar with the kit.
woody37 Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Stunning and another rarity on the modelling front. Those wires on the wings are incredible, can't believe this is 1/72 scale. Cheers
~Dan~ Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 You lie! It can't be 1/72! I would love to read a write-up on this build.
krustydave Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Lovely stuff, nice subject and a great finish well done
tonyot Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Thats an astounding Applecore model in a lovely colour scheme, I`d love to see the reference photo which you worked from. Glad you enjoyed the article too and that it was of some help to you, Cheers and Merry Christmas Tony O
Deon Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 weathering and build are superb Youve made black look realistic too, hats off!
TRUSKY1965 Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 A fine and beautiful model! Congratulations! The cockpit is superb, and the paint and weathering are awesome! An impressive work! Regards. TRUSKY1965.
AnonymousFO98 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Hi Libor as usual a beautiful finish was the torpedo from the box Please? it looks very good especially compared to the Matchbox/Revell Stringbag tinfish
Spad Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Libor that is absolutely stunning - love it! At risk of sounding like a sycophant, I never tire of looking at your work and this one is no different. As mentioned, difficult to believe it's 72nd. Cheers Rick
Redboost Posted December 29, 2009 Author Posted December 29, 2009 Many thanks for nice feedback gents! Ad torpedo: the kit's item is a bit crude, so I rebuilt it using plasticard. TonyOT: thanks again, that photo is on the very first page of the article above. Cheers and Happy New Year to all! Libor
AnonymousFO98 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Thanks Libor that will inspire me to try to correct the torpedoes as best i can!

Maxidad Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Another masterpiece - have you ever built a kit that didn't turn out to be a stunner?
