OzH Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Hi all This is the Classic Airframes 1/48 Walrus, originally started for the D-Day Group build, build thread is here. As you can see I didn’t complete it nearly on time, but its done now. She’s finished in 277 Naval Air Squadron, my first attempt at the FAA shadow scheme and with the D-Day stripes roughly hand painted for that time. The kit is OK, I did have a real drama aligning the lower/upper wings correctly. The lower wings have no locating pins or any sort of guides, so getting these right is critical, I had two or three attempts before I got them right! 18
ForestFan Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Fantastic build! The handpainted D-Day stripes really add to the realism, thanks for showing Bryn
Mike Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 That's a really nice Walrus Oz Lots of neat little touches like the "hand painted" ends of the invasion stripes and the shadows between the ribs on the wings
T-Tango Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Lovely looking Walrus Oz, the paint scheme looks spot on.
AnonymousFY21 Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Fabulous work, on what I would assume is not the easiest kit to do. rich
Seamus Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Fantastic work Oz, the general wear and tear of the paintwork is spot on
tonyot Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Well done Oz, What a fantastic model and I can sympathise with the wing alignment too, which makes your efforts doubly good! Love the paint scheme and the D-Day stripes but must say that 277 Sqn was an RAF Air Sea Rescue Sqn and not a Naval Air Sqn!! All the best Tony O
CPNGROATS Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 That looks quite realalistic ...! Great Job...lovely Bi-Plane... Cheers, ggc
Dave100TR Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Beautiful Walrus! I really love the finish & the hand painted invasion stripes. I have so much admiration for anyone who can attempt all that rigging too! Dave
Notdoneyet Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 That's a cracking Walrus Oz!! Beautifully finished, superb painting and weathering :clap2: Ian
turnerdad Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Another lovely build, reckon that's your best yet. Love the weathering and the invasion stripes look very authentic.
Maxidad Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Excellent. As the others say, the paint job, particularly the weathering and staining, is very well executed.
Carts Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 "Rigging Hell"In both senses of the word! That,s truly brilliant.
p-26luvr Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Absolutely stunning model, very realistic finish

Iain Ogilvie Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 That is just superb! Love the finish and the effect with the D-Day stripes - very convincing Iain
Brian1 Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 That's brilliant - the first time I've seen one of these made up and you've done it very well - I love the worn and very authentic finish.
Windy Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Lovely model Aub, first class job Will you be making it to Yeovilton this year?
Max Headroom Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 First rate job! Talking of rigging hell, what technique did you use?
pacificmustang Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Fantastic OZ, you have done a great job on the stripes, its not easy to carry off hand painted markings and not make them sloppy. You have done superb job. Always look forward to seeing your latest project Regards Bruce
Ant Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Every now and then, someone posts up a finished build here that makes my jaw quite literally drop; well this is obviously one of them. It just looks absolutely spot on. Fantastic, absolutely fantastic.
