Pascal Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 What kind of equipment was used / added to a Spitfire to use it as a target tug ? Greetings, Pascal
The wooksta V2.0 Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 According to the Morgan/Shacklady book, one F.18 had an internal winch installed but most tended to just have a hook fitted and the drogue just dragged along behind the aircraft.
The wooksta V2.0 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 No, there's a page on the target tug (SM970) and one of the lads at wor club did it years back.
Pascal Posted August 5, 2009 Author Posted August 5, 2009 The one I'm looking for is the Mk XI (MH434) OO-ARA, used as a target tug by the compagnie Cogea Nouvelle. But any pictures of a Mk IX target tug are also welcome. Greetings Pascal
alvin5182 Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Pascal: This is as close as I can get. Colours ? This a/c is still extant in Canada! The target mount appears to be some sort of lower tail mounted item. Alvin5182
Pascal Posted August 6, 2009 Author Posted August 6, 2009 (edited) Thank you for the picture Alvin , I have not seen that one before. Yes, it appears that there is a "hook" installed on the left side of the tail. It is also visible on pictures of OO-ARB, had not noticed it before. Yours sincerely Pascal Edited August 6, 2009 by Pascal
