Pascal
What kind of equipment was used / added to a Spitfire to use it as a target tug ? Greetings, Pascal
The wooksta V2.0
According to the Morgan/Shacklady book, one F.18 had an internal winch installed but most tended to just have a hook fitted and the drogue just dragged along behind the aircraft. Dave Fleming
Do you mean the one that towed the Me163?
The wooksta V2.0
No, there's a page on the target tug (SM970) and one of the lads at wor club did it years back.
Pascal
The one I'm looking for is the Mk XI (MH434) OO-ARA, used as a target tug by the compagnie Cogea Nouvelle. But any pictures of a Mk IX target tug are also welcome. Greetings Pascal
alvin5182
Pascal: This is as close as I can get. Colours ? This a/c is still extant in Canada! The target mount appears to be some sort of lower tail mounted item. Alvin5182
Pascal
Thank you for the picture Alvin , I have not seen that one before. Yes, it appears that there is a "hook" installed on the left side of the tail. It is also visible on pictures of OO-ARB, had not noticed it before. Yours sincerely Pascal Edited August 6, 2009 by Pascal
