Great, can't wait to find out what's wrong with it :evil_laugh:

Nice one, Trumpeter, keep these British types coming!

You beat me to the punchline.

This is going in my stash as well.. But first, I will have to build the Alley Cat one I've got..

Considering, as far as I'm aware, that the only existing options for a Vampire in styrene are the hopelessly inaccurate Hobbycraft kits, the ancient Glencoe kit and the very difficult to find and expensive when you do Aeroclub and Classic Airframes kits; I'd keep the anti Trumpeter knives sheathed for the moment.

Given the options, they just might be giving us a good styrene representation of the beast at a decent price that won't require advanced skills to put together.

I have two Trumpeter kits in th estash, a 35th A-7E and a Mil Mi4 Hound both of which I belive are godd representaions of th eoriginal. The Hound should be the most accurate as the Chinese operated tis type.

However having read the reperts of the trumpy inaccuracies I think I'd plum for something I know to be accurate in the Ali Cats resin kit. I built their Gannet AEW 3 a couple of years back and it amost fell together. So I'd keep it local and help presever the locla AM/resin kit producers, plus you can have it now. No need to wait and be dissapointed!

If you delete "Vampire" and insert "Lightning" into your statement and change the manufactures names to Hasegawa and Airfix then you have the hopeful stance that I had a few years back. I hope it is a great kit AND the Ali Cat kit IS a great kit without a doubt.

Please note I have not stated above that "I hate it already because its Trumpeter" nor am I critisising a Vampire kit that I have never seen. However what I was trying to say was once bitten twice shy, I spent a lot of money on 6 Trumpeter Lightnings foolishly buying them on spec before having seen them. I'll continue to hope the Vampire is a great kit but will wait and see, I think that is fair enough isn't it?

As I said before in another thread on the same Vampire, I really can't see how we can compare a mainstream injection moulded kit with a resin one that for its nature is going to be much less available and more expensive.

Following the same logic, whenever anyone asks about the airfix 1/72 Spitfire IX we should answer "forget it, CMR has a beautiful one"....

Wouldn't it be fair to Trumpeter to wait until we see anything before trashing their vampire ? I'm well aware of their track record, but now criticising a kit of which we haven't even seen a CAD drawing seem a bit excessive...

I have two A2Z kits and they are excellent, but at £45 a tad expensive, no means to knock A2Z as you do get what you pay for and I don't consider them over priced.

It will be interesting to see have this kit compares on quality and price. I want to see the kit or a good review before I make a judgement.

IIRC the Glencoe kit was a Venom FB.4. No wonder it wasn't a very good Vampire kit. :ike: (sorry, I couldn't help myself)

Well Glencoe certainly topped Trumpeter for inaccuracy there then. :)

(I have no hatred of Glencoe either before anybody starts)

Good points. I only build plastic kits and I'm not a fan of resin anyway so I wouldn't even consider the CMR one. Let's wait and see.

wait and see, Trumpeter have done some Brit subject very well, I certainly have not encountered wailing and nashing of teeth over their 1/48 Seahawk and Wyvern and 1/24th Hurricane.... or have I just missed it ;)

Hmm, that nose looks a bit long and not really the correct "stubby" shape of the single-seat Vampire as seen in the photos on this page: http://aviation.wate...eu/vampire.html

I don't know , that first photo looks a bit distorted to me , perhaps it's the angle, but we all know the dangers of trying to compare to photos. I think I'll reserve judgement until I'm holding the plastic.

This is a small section of an unfinished drawing of FB.5/9 part of the whole Vampire/Venom family of which the measurements were taken from life, using plumbs and laser tools, or DH material.

Comparing the photo to the drawing, looks like the nose protudes beyond the gear door on the kit. Maybe a cast metal replacement would double as a nose weight?
