zeke Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Afternoon all...just a quick one to show off, this is the Hasegawa 1:48 Nakajima Ki-27 Nate. Built in 2 days, so a real quick one!...But I was wondering, where does the original mould come from?...very nicely detailed with some VERY fine rivet work and good fit...is this one a Nichimo it to start with, or a Fine Molds maybe?... Paint is by the excellent White Ensign Colourcoats... they do a whole range of beautiful Japanese colours...very nice! Hope you like...something a but different anyway.
Strangeways Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 That's lovely, Zeke, simple and subtle. Original tooling was by Mania.
Nick Millman Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 That is very nice indeed. Please say which particular WEM paints you used - they are very effective. I like the variegation. Kit is originally from Mania (Japan) circa 1975 who were also responsible for the Hasegawa 1/72nd version. They planned to issue an A5M 'Claude' but were taken over by Hasegawa before they could do so. Could I please post the pics on my blog - fully credited of course? http://www.straggleresearch.com/
zeke Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 Thanks chaps...Mania eh?...never would have thought of them...that's a real forgotten name isn't it? Nick, of course you can use the photo's, I chucked them up there just to show the kit, so you carry on old bean...the paint is the White Ensign Colourcoat AC J07 Navy Grey. The shades and variances are from pastels and oils, nothing spectacular, just something i fancied for a quick build.
Jon Kunac-Tabinor Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Ooh - thats lovely - great build there Zeke - the Nate's a handsome beast, and you've brought out its finew lines to great effect. Top Job! regards Jonners
Nick Millman Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Thanks Zeke - duly posted! One of the most attractive Nates I have seen in many a long old while.
dahut Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I like it a whole heap. The early Japanese aircraft, that is pre-Zeke, have always held a dear spot for me. You have a fine job there.
Vince Blackburn Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Hi Zeke. Nice paint scheme mate. I have one in my collection to do at some point in the distant future, did it go together well? Vince
KiwiSteve Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Zeke I've never seen this kit built up before, but she looks great the level of detail for a quick build looks sweet
zeke Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Thank you... Vince, it went together very easily indeed...hence the 2 day build time...no real problems at all apart from the rear bulkhead in the cockpit not being a particularly good fit and watch the engine positioning in the cowling, other than that, it's a sinch!
Tizzy Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Very nice.I wish i could do something like that in 2 days.
AndyC Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Zeke, that is a superb effort - I love that scheme and those Manchuoko roundels Andy
cheeley Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Really lovely. 2 days? It takes me that long to clean the parts up after I've got them off the sprue!
Nick Belbin Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 A real beauty!! How have you done the identification lamps on top of the wings? Nick
BasicModelling Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Lovely... and very nice to see something Japanese that ISN'T green and chipped..
Ian Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Hi Steve Nice model, built mine from a genuine MANIA box about three years ago. Kept the box too ! Ian
Navy Bird Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Really nice job! I've not heard of Mania before - although I like how their name kind of sums up our hobby, eh? Note to self: build some Japanese planes in cool schemes. Cheers, Bill
