wkennerley Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 (edited) Hi Guys, a few pics of my start on the Airfix 1/12 Blower Bentley. A friend of mine in South Africa is building one too, but he is a bit slower than me, I will post pics of both builds. We expect it will take at least a year to build them, in between other builds (in my case anyway). CPNGROATS Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 looks like the Bentley will feature lots of cool details..esp. in 1/12 scale...Thanks for sharing... Cheers, ggc

wkennerley Posted July 23, 2008 Author Posted July 23, 2008 (edited) That looks like a very good effort in my opinion - What green did you use for the fabric body please? I am using humbrol 3 for the metal parts, which I think is what you used too. Thanks re magazine Cheers Wayne Very Nice work Wayne I'll pop the mag in the post tomorrow for you Heres My very poor effort BENTLEY Edited July 23, 2008 by wkennerley
Fmk.6john Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 I really do like the blower Bentleys, would love to have seen them thraped around the Brooklands track in their heyday. Mind you the scream of a supercharged Mercedes must have been something else too. Nice work, JB.
wkennerley Posted July 27, 2008 Author Posted July 27, 2008 Not much done of late, been fiddling with small assemblies, like the gearbox, rear axle, seats, etc
wkennerley Posted August 6, 2008 Author Posted August 6, 2008 Main Chassis parts puttogether, needs spraying now, also done front seats, drybrushed to look a bit worn, it seems to look right
keefr22 Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Only just come across this thread, & have to say that you have some wonderful finishing effects on the build so far. Those seats are excellent, but what really caught my eye was the exhaust manifold - could I ask how you got that excellent burnt metal effect on it? Cheers Keef
wkennerley Posted August 7, 2008 Author Posted August 7, 2008 but what really caught my eye was the exhaust manifold - could I ask how you got that excellent burnt metal effect on it? Hi Keef, well you got me there, had to think about this but if I recall correctly, the manifold was sprayed humbrol 33 matt black, then drybrushed with citadel tin bitz and then a bit of citadel brazen brass, lastly a bit of powdered chalk pastel, colour unknown but its a light orangy colour, was applied to the grooves where the manifold joins the cylinder head. Hope this helps Wayne
dylan the rabbit Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Splendid stuff there Wayne. I've been very slack at geting those Blower pics sorted for you. I'm resizing them now, will upload them to Photobucket this afternoon, and post the link here. Wokey dokey?

Mark Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Aye, when I were a lad .... along with the 1/24th Stuka and Harrier, that was the kit I aspired to! The leather effect on the seats is stunning as is the exhaust manifold, but then that's already been said, just adding my own words of praise! look forward to seeing more!
seanrgb Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Hi Wayne Cracking stuff so far ... Its a great kit to do As for the fabric body parts I painted those Humbrol 196 ...ans I found this on EVILBAY This is the book I had that I can't find anywhere ... cheers Sean

I'd sort of worked out the drybrushing with Tin Bitz as I could recognise the colour - it was the base of matt black & final pastel finishing that I hadn't sussed!! Once again, lovely work & looking forward to seeing your progress! Keef
wkennerley Posted August 7, 2008 Author Posted August 7, 2008 Thanks for the comments guys, I will endevour to do a bit more over the weekend, alongside the P-38 and I am about to start an F8F Bearcat too - oh and I started another Rhodesian Air Force Hunter, in flight, in the earlier RAF type camo.
