Hi Guys, a few pics of my start on the Airfix 1/12 Blower Bentley. A friend of mine in South Africa is building one too, but he is a bit slower than me, I will post pics of both builds. We expect it will take at least a year to build them, in between other builds (in my case anyway).

Regards

Wayne

That looks like a very good effort in my opinion - What green did you use for the fabric body please? I am using humbrol 3 for the metal parts, which I think is what you used too.

Thanks re magazine

Cheers

I'll pop the mag in the post tomorrow for you

I really do like the blower Bentleys, would love to have seen them thraped around the Brooklands track in their heyday.

Mind you the scream of a supercharged Mercedes must have been something else too.

Nice work,

JB.

Only just come across this thread, & have to say that you have some wonderful finishing effects on the build so far. Those seats are excellent, but what really caught my eye was the exhaust manifold - could I ask how you got that excellent burnt metal effect on it?

Hi Keef, well you got me there, had to think about this but if I recall correctly, the manifold was sprayed humbrol 33 matt black, then drybrushed with citadel tin bitz and then a bit of citadel brazen brass, lastly a bit of powdered chalk pastel, colour unknown but its a light orangy colour, was applied to the grooves where the manifold joins the cylinder head. Hope this helps

Splendid stuff there Wayne.

I've been very slack at geting those Blower pics sorted for you. I'm resizing them now, will upload them to Photobucket this afternoon, and post the link here.

Wokey dokey?

Aye, when I were a lad :nerd:.... along with the 1/24th Stuka and Harrier, that was the kit I aspired to! The leather effect on the seats is stunning as is the exhaust manifold, but then that's already been said, just adding my own words of praise! look forward to seeing more!

Hi Wayne,

Yes, it does thanks! I'd sort of worked out the drybrushing with Tin Bitz as I could recognise the colour - it was the base of matt black & final pastel finishing that I hadn't sussed!!

Once again, lovely work & looking forward to seeing your progress!

Wonderful build of a great classic car, well done mate, that engine and those seats are brilliant, can't wait to see the rest of it.
