Andy.
F-32 Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 That's impressive detail for out the box, looks like a lovely kit
rwkennard Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Hey Andy Your build looks fantastic so far. Been wanting to get this very kit myself. I think you might have tipped the balance for me. Going to follow your wip with interest. Cheers Richard
smuts Posted July 5, 2008 Author Posted July 5, 2008 Hi done some more work...gunbay built fitted like a dream painted up with Tamiya chrome silver enamel washed with smoke guns painted on Gunze Mr metal dk-iron & buffed, seeing the Mk108's at cosford trump really have captured the look of the stamped steel construction anyway fitted to the nose wheelwell & the main tank painted with xtracrylics RLM02. didnt think till after that the tanks the ideal place for nose weight Andy
Mike Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Nice work Andy - why don't you drill the underside of the tank & put the weight in there?
smuts Posted July 5, 2008 Author Posted July 5, 2008 thanks Mish some more the gun/wheel well just slotted in no glue at all ( will run some extra thin before i seal the fuse up) the Shark shape of the 262 is starting to show avionics behind the office RLM 02 panels & boxes model-air metallic black(great stuff) data sheets from MDC, oxygen bottles Gunze RLM04 airframe Tamiya chrome silver (enamel). every things gone together great but the proof will be when the fues halves are joined together

Azgaron Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 That Me 262 looks lovely so far! Love to see more! Cheers, Azgaron
smuts Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 hi moment of truth both fuse halve joined together absolutely no trouble at all just a run of Mr surfacer 1000 more to recreate the puttied seams on the stormbird...... those who knock trumpeter that nose section fitted better then on my Tamiya & Dragon 262's nose weights...Tungsten-carbide milling tips four here & a biggie here..... that's nose weight thank god there's metal U/C legs supplied Andy.
Smiffy Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 An impressive looking kit and you're definitely doing a grand job on it.
Tedfellows Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 This is amazing work mate, plus you must have the most expensive nose weights ever!!
smuts Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 Hi got the wings fitted & the longship pylons for the tanks these fitted better then both the Tamiya & Dragon pylons tried to get the puttied look common to 262's, so I got rid of some of the rivets at the wing roots & brushed some Mr surfacer 1000 in to any gaps I thinks its come out OK......... nexts the engines I'm going to cut open access panels for these oh err Andy.
CPNGROATS Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Smuts: Great progress on your Stormbird...! Cheers, ggc
smuts Posted July 19, 2008 Author Posted July 19, 2008 hi guys built the engines up, no paint yet though fitted L/H in to nacelle no fit problems.... strange thing here the rivets are very slight against the fuse & wings one swipe with a master caster pad & they were off, if doing the jabo boxing I'd re scribe/rivet these. Being black not so much a concern, though a coat of primer & a couple of black coats....gone. right engine in access panels cut to show it.... test fitted to the wing fits OK... Andy.
CPNGROATS Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Andy: Great looking ME-262, you handling of the details is superb...carry on... Cheers, ggc
smuts Posted July 25, 2008 Author Posted July 25, 2008 Hi guys last posts before hols Jumo 05 engine great a kit in itself, just added some cables (not all just the main ones)... & in the nacelle fitted to wing good overall fit nothing major, did need a lot of blending in for the front intake to the nacelle body, rear fine. the all to familiar shape STORMBIRD......... nacelle to wing very little filler needed... Andy.
