turnerdad
Having some trouble posting this in the walkaround section but thought I'd stick this on here and move it later. May upgrade pic quality at some point. Have almost 300 pics of these machines, so these are only representive of my collection. Anyone need others PM me. 84 Squdron based at RAF Akrotiri have 4 Bell Griffins on charge, though at least one is usually undergoing maintenance. There are 2 incarnations, the "Trooper" which has seats and no or little rescue stuff, and usually no winch, and the SAR, with the blue plastic water proof flooring, winch, rescue stuff etc. These fits can be swapped around if and when needed, takes best part of a day apparently. These are do everything workhorses, they fight fires equipped with a big red dipping bucket, and can also have various searchlights and Flir type goodies attached when needed. Each has a card emblem on the tail, Spade, Heart, Diamond and Club. Also a Scorpion on the cockpit door. Edited May 11, 2008 by turnerdad

air5
Those are some awsome photos. Just the information I was going to be looking for. 84 Sqd Griffins were a future project of mine. One question if I may. a hoist? Was one employed? Either the roof mount, of an in cabin type?

turnerdad
Hoist could be removed when needed. The troop carrier usually has it removed (but seems to retain the hoist arm), while of course the SAR version has one fitted at all times. Got another 200+ pics but to much for here. PM if you want a CD with all pics.
albymoore
Sharp pics, lots of great detail shots there! I may have to pick up another 1/72 RoG Bell 412 so I can build one of these gray Griffins (to go along with the DHFS Griffin on my shelf). Any decals available for this Griffin?
