Habu12 Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Hey all! Thought I'd show these over here too, in case some of you don't frequent Zone-Five any. All three Tamiya kits. The first in an F-16N, which I converted from the Block 25/32 kit, before Tam released the uber C/N kit. So I pilfered a GE exhaust, and donut panel from a CJ kit. Decals are Fightertown, which I had a hand in creating. The chin pods were taken from a Hase N kit, and the ACMI pod came from a Hase weapons set:
Habu12 Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 Second, was a conversion to a DG, using a Hasegawa rear canopy hump, and the canopy itself. It was relatively easy conversion, as the parts fit very well. BB cockpit, Afterburner decals:
Habu12 Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 And last. not least, a Hellenic Viper. I tried to use the Wolfpack parabrake tail set, but it was useless. The resin they use just shrinks far too much, and didn't fit ell at all. I ended up using only the ECM fairing, chute pack and navlight fairings. The parabrake tail came from a Hasegawa F-2 kit. It fit perfectly. Decals are Icarus: I apologize for the wonky look of these pics, my aperture was giving me hell, so I had to put my pshop skills to use. Enjoy!
AnonymousDFB1 Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Well you hae just made my weekend. they are a trio of beautiful Vipers, thank you. Mega sized drool buckets required here......
Mike Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Nice Vipers... what's the story with the faded/blue N & Y on the spine of top one?
Habu12 Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 Nice Vipers... what's the story with the faded/blue N & Y on the spine of top one? That's how it was painted. Most Adversary birds had the NAVY or MARINES markings cross from one color into another to accommodate the camo scheme. Thanks guys!
HOUSTON Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Habu12, AWESOME Vipers.... Worth the wait ..... Thank you for posting them here...they are bsolutely stunbningly BEAUTIFUL.. HOUSTON...

Skii Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Oh you're good, very good I had seen these over on Z5 and I was hoping you would post them up over here - three examples of how to build the Tamiya Viper to the highest standard. More More !!!!!!
Gundylunch Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Thanks for sharing Habu !! Nice Vipers !! Tell us more about fitting the Hasegawa Twin seat bit to the Tamiya kit please !!
Habu12 Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 Thanks for sharing Habu !! Nice Vipers !! Tell us more about fitting the Hasegawa Twin seat bit to the Tamiya kit please !! It was simpler than I thought! The Hasegawa parts fit very well, though no problems. The trouble I had was getting the Black Box cockpit to fit well. In the end, the fron cockpit sits a bit too low, and the seats don't have the correct angle. But it was a first time. Here's some pics of the conversion: That's the Hase canopy sitting right atop the modified Tamiya front fuselage, fit almost like a glove. The panel lines matched up quite well, too.
Alan P Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 (edited) Just goes to show what a good kit in the right hands can look like Excellently finished the three of them, and nice to see three unusual versions of the Lawn Dart. VERY Al Edited April 3, 2009 by PHaTNesS
Bennet Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Hey Habu12, I know it is 10 years later, but is there a possibility to get hold of the pictures? Thanks in advance, Bennet
