Foxbat Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Eduard have decided that there was enough demand after the last re-issue of the 1/48 Tempest sold out to justify another issue. If I'm reading it right, they are only offering it on pre-order via their site, and they're only taking orders for another week. http://www.eduard.com/blog/tempest-mk-v-pl...order-frenzy-2/ has all the details. Mike Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Judging by how quickly the last issue sold out, I wouldn't hang about this time...
Jon Kunac-Tabinor Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 And its now £33.50 plus shipping. I realise its a popular kit - but adding a t-shirt and upping the cost of a model thats not in truth one of their best ( because it was an early tooling), does smack of raking it in a little. Or am I being way too cynical here? Jonners
Mike Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 A Tshirt you say? Do those come in Gigantic?
Jon Kunac-Tabinor Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 A Tshirt you say? Do those come in Gigantic? why yes! http://www.eduard.com/store/Eduard/TEMPEST...e-XXL-1-48.html Are you buying for a "friend" then? Jonners
Mike Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Ah yes... So they do. Not for a "friend" saldy Well - if people don't want their tshirts, just order the gigantic one and send it on to me
Work In Progress Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 (edited) raking it in a little. Or am I being way too cynical here? "Raking it in" is, after all, the purpose of being in business. I think it's massively overpriced at that and have never paid more than £12.50 for one (back in the old days). But if people are willing to pay that for it - and eBay over the years has proved that they are - then they would be fools not to take the money. Edited September 29, 2011 by Work In Progress

Enzo the Magnificent Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Given the kit needs some work to make it right. I wonder if Eduard will consider a new tool Tempest. Or have these re-issues sated the market for a while?
Silver Fox Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 (edited) The Tee shirt with Pierre Closterman would make me want it for a bargain price not pay more for it. I've just got mine from Relish and am glad it doesn't come with it. Now an Evan Mackie tee shirt is another matter altgether. Edited September 29, 2011 by Silver Fox
Jon Kunac-Tabinor Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I wonder if Eduard will consider a new tool Tempest. Or have these re-issues sated the market for a while? Hi Enzo - I suspect the latter - plus why spend all that money on a new tool - when there's obviously still a market for the old one, alas? The t-shirt limited edition looks very much to me like its aimed as much at Kit Collector as modellers - I wonder what we'll see them on E-bay for in a few months time? cheers Jonners
Enzo the Magnificent Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Hi Enzo - I suspect the latter - plus why spend all that money on a new tool - when there's obviously still a market for the old one, alas? True enough. I've looked on the Eduard site and it seems to imply that the T shirt special edition is only available via pre-order from Eduard, while there will be a bog standard re-issue that can be sourced anywhere. Hope so. Although I have three in the stash (one to be started soon), I need at least one more. Maybe two...
grahamf Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I wonder if Eduard will consider a new tool Tempest. Or have these re-issues sated the market for a while? I think actually the kit isn't as bad as we have been led to suppose, I have been building in 3D CAD a MK5 and the issue with the wings are not all bad, basically the thickness of the wing at the root is only 1mm too high and only 0.55mm at the transition point where the outer wings change angle. Where it does score in my opinion is that from the front the lower inner wings have a slight anhedral in the region of the wheel doors. I thought initially I had it wrong but it is backed up by a photo I have of a MK6 in flight from the front, this means that every drawing including those of Arthur Bentley are incorrect in this respect.
