I've been working this to try and get it finished for the NSW Show. It is Great Wall's 1/144 Victor B.2.

IMHO the Victor was the nicest looking of the V bombers and probably the nicest 1960's big jet. I'm interested in seeing Airfix 1/72 kit when it comes out

I'm going for an inflight build because I couldn't face all those little wheels

Constructions is pretty straight forward. FIt is pretty good just the main seam between the fuselage halves taking a bit of time to clean up.

Great Wall conveniently give you the marking sheet at the same size as the model. I scanned it and printed on A4 label paper. Cutting out eh camo pattern gives you some masks. These are good for the flat surfaces like the wings but you still need to mark the rest out with thin strips of tape

Very nice kit and aircraft. Looking great I need to crack on with mine.

If your doing a D roundel camo version don't fall for the misleading Decals telling you to put both upper wing roundels on. In this scheme they only ever carried 1 on the left wing as the Vulcan's did. It was only when the Modern B Type 2 colour roundel returned that they where again applied to both wings.

I will be watching and cant wait to see it finished. Got a few of these on the stash and 2 Airfix ones on order so I will be looking for ideas :)

Paint is Mr Color Lacquers. I really love this paint although it does take a while to get used to . It dries in minutes, doesn't fill the detail and you can put a wash straight over it without a gloss coat.

The instructions call out a US light colour FS36222, light grey for the underside. The undersides were actually white but as FS36222 is a really light grey that looks , to my eyes, slightly off white I went with it.

And yes Rob I didn't know the instructions were wrong so it's got roundels on both wings

Nice work Calum, didn't think you were a 1/144 guy! :D

Not normally Ray but I reckon 1/144 is a good scale for aircraft like this. Especially if you want a quick easy build.

I'd like to do a Victor K2 refuelling a Vulcan at some stage. Just need to pick up the 2 kits at a reasonable price

Looks amazing and I want to try them paints myself for awhile now. The undersides where gloss white. The Light Aircraft grey came In on the 70s scheme. But with age and dirt could indeed look off white sometimes.

cant wait for more progress :)

Been on an enforced break from the bench (Family holiday :( ) But I managed to get it decaled before I went .

The instructions call for roundels on both wings however Rob (above pointed out this was incorrect, I had used both roundels but thankfully sticky tape managed to remove the offending item on the right wing and a light stand and a couple of gloss coats fixed the damage.

I think I'll skip weathering this and just attach the few small parts and call it done

Nice work Calum. I too am eagerly awaiting the Airfix 1/72 Victor. Like the Monteith's bottle top...
