Paul A H Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Resin Engine Sets for Airfix Bristol Blenhiem 1:72 SBS Model These resin engines for Airfix's new Beaufighter are amongst the latest items in an impressive and expanding range of resin bits and pieces and pre-cut masks for aircraft and AFV kits. Essentially identical to the Gladiator engine set that we reviewed a few weeks ago, these resin versions are far more detailed that the kit items, comprised as they are of separately cast cylinder cases with delicate cooling fin details, all of which fit into the similarly well-cast crank case. Although it looks complex when spread out in front of you, I reckon it shouldn't take more than an hour or so to put each engine together. The resin is as good as any I've seen, with sharp details and no bubbles. Conclusion As with the other items we reviewed recently from SBS Model, I have to say I'm very impressed. The key elements of detail, ease of use and quality of manufacture all seem to be present, making these Bristol Mercurys as good as any items I've seen from the likes of Aires or Eduard. Recommended.
