Paul J Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Just finished this as well!! Bought a couple weeks ago and finished last night. Gorgeous kit but I found the starboard upper wing part wouldn't fit snugly at the root. I managed to get an acceptable fit in the end though. Anyway its RB281 5V-X of 439 Squadron RCAF, !945. '281 was lost due to engine failure and crash landed. 2
colin Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Very nice, the bombs look like 1000lbs, did they come with the kit
Paul J Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Hi Colin. Yes the bombs do come with the kit as an option to the rockets. Being me, I opted for the Canadian 438 squadron option and it was a bomb only one.
Kawacrossa Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Brilliant work, it`s a great wee kit this, eh?
mike romeo Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Lovely job! I've just bought another one of these as I've got a feeling they won't stay on the shelves that long. I will be doing the Canadian bombphoon for my next build. It looks like you used the decals for the yellow leading edge stripes. Is that right? regards, Martin
Richard B. Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Very nice job. I like the brutish looks of the Typhoon. The Typhoon and the P-47 - it was like unleashing the brute squad on poor old Adolf. Kudos for doing it in 1/72 scale as well. I am a committed 1/48 scale maodeller, but recently tried a couple of 1/72 scale kits, the Airfix swordfish and Revell's Hawker Hurricane- they turned out OK, and now I have deep respect for anyone producing such a nice result in 1/72nd. Bonus points for RCAF!
Paul J Posted August 7, 2013 Author Posted August 7, 2013 "...Bonus points for RCAF!...." What else from me!! Canadian stuff is my main 'thing' currently! Mike Romeo: yes decla from the kit were used for the yellow leading edges. Thye fit well and with use of suitable decal soultions. I have to say again and repeat what lots of people are saying, the kit is wonderful. I am looking to do another soon, but need to decide what to do with my Bren Gun kit!
kev67 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Excellent build I am doing this at the moment as well, one minor flaw you have done though is the camo on the canopy, as you have continued it in the same position when its open, if you know what I mean. Actually I have just looked at some photos and you are right http://www.dday-overlord.com/eng/hawker_typhoon.htm
Paul J Posted August 7, 2013 Author Posted August 7, 2013 Hi Kev 67, I do realise what you mean. Accidentally it looks OK but I fitted the canopy without painting the camo until after. form above the demarcation is almost Ok but visible in my pics here.
